Beach and bay explorations

Come join one of our weekly free beach/bay  explorations of a Galveston Island treasure starting March 12, 2016 — every Saturday (for beach explorations) and Sunday (for bay explorations) through November 27, 2016 led by Galveston Bay Area – TX Master Naturalist .

Meet at the Nature Center at 10:00 am; explorations last approximately 75 minutes.  You will need to pay the park entry fee of $5.00 per person (children 12 and under are free) prior to the start of the exploration.

Beach explorations

Get a close-up look at the many critters and birds that inhabit the sand, surf and seaweed. Tour activities include hands-on seining, searching for ghost crabs and beachcombing under the guidance of Friends of Galveston Island State Park (FoGISP) volunteers.

Bay explorations

Discover the wetlands with a close-up look at the critters, grasses and birds that inhabit the marshland and bay.   Tour activities include hands-on-seining, fiddler crab sightings and more under the guidance  of FoGISP volunteers.
